Columbia Memorial names three to hospital board
(Hudson, NY - June 6, 2007) – The Columbia Memorial Hospital Trustees Governance Committee has named Aven A. Kerr, Winnie Thorn and William Van Slyke to the hospital board. The new trustees will serve for an initial one year term after which they will be eligible for re-election for a three year term.
Kerr, a resident of Old Chatham, is present Chairman of the Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation Board and has served on the board of Tannery Pond. She is a former human resources executive with Prudential Insurance, Metrahealth/United Healthcare and was Chief Operating Officer of Novacare Employee Services.
Thorn has long been active in community affairs and volunteerism. She served the American Cancer Society at the local, regional and national levels. She was Chairman of the Board of the American Cancer Society at the State level; Chairman of Fundraising at the National level; an officer of the National Board; and is an Honorary Life member at the National level. In addition to her many years of service to the American Cancer Society, she has served in many capacities with the hospital auxiliary and other hospital fundraising committees. She is a graduate of St. Lawrence University and resides in Hudson.
Van Slyke is Vice President for Communications and Public Relations for the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS), responsible for all media and member communications. He joined HANYS after serving as Deputy Commissioner for Administration and Public Affairs at the New York State Department of Health. Van Slyke is a graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh and resides in Catskill.
