COLUMBIA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL ADDS DIABETES EXPERT TO STAFF

(Hudson, NY - August 9, 2006) — Columbia Memorial Hospital has added diabetes expert Dr. Ronald J. Innerfield, MD to its staff. Dr. Innerfield is a Board Certified Endocrinologist with a special interest in diabetes and just completed primary residency in endocrinology at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. He served as Chief for the Clinical Endocrinology branch at the National Diabetes Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Innerfield will be a great addition to the Diabetes program already in place at Columbia Memorial.

"I am very excited to have the opportunity to practice medicine at Columbia Memorial Hospital," said Dr. Ronald Innerfield, M.D. "For many years Columbia Memorial has been a friend of the community and I am proud to be a part of this family."

There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease.

"Dr. Innerfield will make a great addition to our current diabetes program. Many residents are affected by this disease in our community and to help control and treat this illness, our hospital recruited one of the most qualified endocrinologists with expertise in diabetes. We are very fortunate to have on staff an expert at diabetes treating our patients," said Jane Ehrlich, president and CEO of Columbia Memorial Hospital.

" With the significant rise in diabetes over the last few years, it will be my goal at Columbia Memorial to help decrease complications and disease progression in diabetic patients by working closely with them and their families," continued Dr. Innerfield.
