Hospital adds new OB/GYN at Women's Health Center
Columbia Memorial Hospital welcomes Suzanne Mesidor, MD to the medical staff at The Women's Health Center.
Dr. Mesidor comes to Columbia Memorial from Binghamton, NY where she worked at United Medical Associates.
Previously, Dr. Mesidor did her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, NY.
She received her MD from Syracuse Upstate Medical University.
Dr. Mesidor will provide all levels of obstetric and gynecological care at the hospital and is interested in caring for women of all ages. She has special interest in gynecological laparoscopic surgery.
"Laparoscopic surgery is minimally invasive and can be very effective in diagnosing and treating many different types of pelvic disorders. Women who undergo laparoscopic surgery, whether for hysterectomy, tubal ligation, or ovarian cyst removal, recover significantly faster than those who undergo traditional surgical procedures,” explained Dr. Mesidor.
"I came from a small island in the Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago, to live in New York City. Having lived in different areas in upstate New York, it's easy adjusting to this area. I love the area," she said.
"It is so close to everything -- country and city."
Mesidor is the mother of two children and resides locally. She also has a Bachelors degree from Columbia University in New York City.
The Women's Health Center at Columbia Memorial, located in the Medical Office Building, provides general obstetrics, high risk obstetrics, reproductive health, infertility counseling, preventative medicine including yearly physicals, contraceptive management, evaluation and treatment of abnormal Pap smears, abnormal bleeding, menstrual irregularities, and pelvic pain. They also specialize in the standard and alternative treatments to PMS, peri-menopause and menopause. They specialize in comprehensive gynecological surgery including state-of-the-art laparoscopy (minimally invasive surgery) and hysteroscopy.
