(Hudson, NY.) The Hudson riverfront was the setting on June 4th for Columbia Memorial Hospital's annual hospital ball, "Dancing under the Stars." More than 400 hospital supporters joined members of the medical staff and hospital administration at The Historic Point in Catskill, NY at the annual fundraising event, now in its 23rd year.
This year's hosts were Chris and Jim Warren. Mr. Warren is Chairman of Columbia Memorial's Board of Trustees and President of National Bank of Coxsackie. Mrs. Warren is an educator in Coxsackie. "As we dance tonight under the stars," Mr. Warren said, "let's remember that we are supporting a purpose as noble and important as any in our community: healing and comforting the sick at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Your faithful contributions make curing and caring a reality."
In the past five years, the hospital ball has raised nearly $2 million net, and these proceeds have paid for major renovations and the purchase of new medical technology and equipment at Columbia Memorial. The $400,000 net raised at this year's ball will contribute toward major renovations on two floors of the hospital, including hospice and the mental health unit.
Since 1994 they have awarded $1.5 million to diverse community organizations, according to program representative Deborah Tobiassen, who attended the grant presentation.
Columbia Memorial Hospital has been serving our community for more than 120 years. Columbia Memorial's fundraising partner is the Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation. The Foundation raises money from generous individuals and businesses, and through special fundraising events like the annual hospital ball. Every dollar raised helps to purchase the very latest equipment and technology and fund renovation and expansion projects so that the hospital can provide the very best health care to our community.
