Columbia Memorial and Kaaterskill Care laud employees

Columbia Memorial Hospital and its affiliate rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility, Kaaterskill Care in Catskill, announce the winners of various employee recognition programs for the first months of 2011.

Ashley Brandow
Ashley Brandow, a Food Nutrition Hostess for Columbia Memorial Hospital, was Employee of the Month of April, 2011.

"Ashley is dedicated to her patients, has a wonderful personality, and is the consummate professional," said James Sterling, Director of Nutrition and Food Service at the hospital.

"We congratulate her on this award," he said.

Joy Nadeau
Brandow works primarily in the Telemetry Unit and at the Family Birth Place.

Joy Nadeau, licensed and Registered Medical Technologist, Blood Bank and Point of Care Supervisor at Columbia Memorial Hospital, was named employee of the Month of May.

Nadeau began serving the hospital's patients in both Columbia and Greene Counties in 2004.
"She has worked hard in the Blood Bank and on Point of Care to make the Laboratory a successful member of the Columbia Memorial Hospital family of clinical departments," said Dawn Perlin, Lab Director.

"Joy addresses many challenges daily in the Blood Bank. She handles them with determination and success. Joy can also been seen at our Blood Drives at Columbia Memorial Hospital talking to all and making sure everyone who has donated gets a personal "thank you," said Perlin.

Kaaterskill Care recognized Rayshawn Ivery a Food Service Cook, as Employee of the First Quarter of 2011.

"Rayshawn is the definition of customer service," said Kaaterskill Care Vice President Todd Zbytniewski.

"He not only takes on any challenge before him, but he does it with a positive attitude and smile on his face. It doesn't matter if he is preparing his third resident meal of the day, putting together a last minute staff meal, or running a special order up to a resident room, he does so with professionalism, pride and speed."

Ivery is a key member of the dietary team, and assisted in the transition of hiring a new manager of dietary at Kaaterskill.

"Rayshawn realizes that Kaaterskill care is "home" to more than one hundred residents, and treats each and every one with the respect they deserve in their home. He makes every effort to make every meal 'homemade,' to make residents as comfortable as he can," said Zbytniewski.

Leah Jeune is Kaaterskill Care's Employee of the Second Quarter of 2011.

"Leah started her career at Kaaterskill Care in 1975 in the Activities Department where she continues to work today," said Zbytniewski.

"The attributes that Leah brings to the Activities Department are truly amazing: kindness, generosity, compassion and dignity. She is the kind of person we can count on everyday. She is always willing to pitch in a little extra when it comes to our residents and their individual needs." he said.

"Leah has been a dedicated employee for 35 years and continues to display the same dedication as she did her first day on the job," said Zbytniewski.
