Jeff I. Monkash, MD, a gastroenterologist in private practice in
Hudson, New York for more than 26 years, has joined Columbia Memorial
Hospital’s physician office network.
He has held a hospital affiliation as an attending physician there
since 1983. His various accomplishments include Chief of Medicine
from 1996-1999, President of the Columbia County Medical Society from
1991-1996, and, Co-founder and Director of the Transfusion Free
Medical Program at the hospital since the program’s inception in
2001. He is a Diplomate in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology of
the American Board of Internal Medicine.
He authored a column on health related matters in a local newspaper
and hosted a radio program on medical issues for several years. He
has given numerous talks on health topics in both Columbia and Green
counties.
Dr. Monkash received a BA in Biology from SUNY Buffalo, and
attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his
residency training in Internal Medicine
at the Montefiore Hospital in New York City and did his Fellowship in
Gastroenterology at Albany Medical Center.
Dr. Monkash has special expertise in several endoscopic procedures
including endoscopy and colonoscopy which involve the insertion of
specialized instruments that visualize the digestive organs and
sample tissue, and if necessary, remove growths. He has particular
interest in clinical diagnosis and patient advocacy and is known for
his thoroughness and compassion.
He continues to practice at his office at 2A Milo Street in Hudson.
