Two area businessmen, David Ginsberg and James Reynolds, have joined the Board of Directors of Columbia Memorial Hospital. Both men bring substantial fiscal and marketing management experience to the Board.
Reynolds has served as President of Mid-Hudson Cablevision since 1978. During this time Mid-Hudson Cablevision has developed into a telecommunications company that provides digital television, high speed internet, voice over internet phone service (cable phone), high
definition television, and video-on-demand.
Ginsberg carries on the work of his father Morton and mother Ida who were long-time champions of Columbia Memorial. A memorial fund, the Morton and Ida Ginsberg Memorial Fund, was established in memory of his parents and provides funds to hospital staff for participation in educational programs.
Ginsberg is president of the Columbia Economic Development Corporation and is a board member of the Kinderhook Bank and the International Food Distributors Association. Ginsberg holds a BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
"The Board's role is oversight and cheeerleading," said Ginsberg. "We must not micromanage."
"The reason for Columbia Memorial's recent financial success is our system of outlying clinics.
We now have a host of services under the hospital's umbrella," he said.
Reynolds is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan and joined his father in the cable operation in 1973. Mid- Hudson is responsible for deploying telecommunications infrastructure throughout the region in support of initiatives that encourage economic development.
"Our company has always supported Columbia Memorial and has watched its amazing transformation. The hospital is a complicated organization and has amazing challenges. I am glad to be part of a board that places emphasis on improving services, especially safety procedures to ensure that the best care is administered," said Reynolds.
"I have a lot of admiration for Jane Ehrlich and her ability to run a complex business such as Columbia Memorial. She understands the challenges in motivating her team to execute the business plan. She and COO Jay Cahalan have done a wonderful job," said Reynolds.
