For the fourth Quarter of 2009, the Daisy Award was presented to Lauren Howard from the Medical Imaging Department. Lauren was selected by the recruitment and retention committee. This award cites a person who is compassionate, empathetic, dependable, caring, and a dedicated patient advocate. Lauren was unanimously
chosen by the selection committee for the fourth quarter of 2009 for her exemplary work in Medical Imaging, according to Rhonda Makoske, Department head.
Charlene LeBeouf of Columbia Memorial's communications department was January 2010 employee of the month.
LeBeouf hails from Dutchess County. She now lives in Greenport.
Nora Rancourt has been chosen as Employee of the Quarter at Kaaterskill Care Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Catskill for her dedication to the residents and her positive attitude, according to Todd Zbytniewski, Vice President for Geriatric Services.
Raymundo Mingua, RN and Linda Erickson, RN, Emergency Department staff nurses at Columbia Memorial, recently passed the Board Certified Emergency Nurse (BCEN) exam. This internationally recognized certification distinguishes the individuals who acquire a defined body of nursing knowledge specific to emergency nursing.
Both Mingua and Erickson are focused and dedicated nurses, and are both pursuing graduate degrees. They serve as valuable resources to other nurses in the department. The Emergency Department has purchased a BCEN plaque, to which their names have been added. It is currently displayed in the Triage area of the hospital.
"Rebecca has been employed with Columbia Memorial Hospital for the past twelve years. She started in an entry level position in Patient Accounts but her talents were noted and she was quickly promoted," said Siedsma.
Outside of work, Rebecca is a full time Mom to three kids and very active in her community. This past summer she volunteered her vacation time, and spent a week in Port-au- Prince, Haiti assisting in an orphanage (before the earthquake).
"Columbia Memorial Hospital is fortunate to have Rebecca as an employee, and we truly appreciate all her efforts every day!," said Siedsma.
