Jackie Smith of Columbia Memorial Hospital's Information Technology
(IT) Department, and Michele Herber of Pain Management have been cited by the hospital's Human Resource Department for their excellent work.
Smith was named employee of the month for July. She has been working in IT since October of 2007.
"Early this year, she took on the responsibility as a project assistant for the eClinical Works (eCW) project," said Chief Information Officer Cathy Crowley.
Columbia Memorial Hospital recently implemented eCW, an electronic health record (EHR) and practice management system between the hospital and its care centers.
"In this role, Jackie worked with the hospital's network of care managers as they prepared for the eCW implementation. Jackie did a fantastic job, working with staff and vendors. She was extremely patient and worked with them to fix a problem," said Crowley. As the providers started using the system, Smith continued to be the voice at the end of the phone.
"As always, she is patient and thorough staying with the provider on the phone as long as needed. Jackie is a distinct asset to the hospital's IT Department," she said.
Michele Herber, employee of the month of August, joined Columbia Memorial Hospital in September 2003. She played a vital role in the establishment of the Pain Management Department. At its very inception, she worked side by side with Dr. Andrejuk as a nurse, manager, and facility coordinator. She was instrumental in the growth and expansion of the practice. After seven years as a devoted and loyal employee, Michele continues to be an invaluable asset to Pain Management. She is a very skilled and highly knowledgeable nurse. Versed in the clinical field, she promotes excellent care for our patients. Her integrity is well known, her loyalty highly appreciated, and her compassion for human suffering is truly admired, by all patients and the whole Pain Management team.
Michele lives in Stuyvesant, NY with her husband and two children.
