Janice Brodowski, RN, is Columbia Memorial's 4th quarter of 2010 Daisy Award recipient.
The Daisy Award cites a hospital staffer who is compassionate, empathetic, dependable, caring, and is a dedicated patient advocate. The winner's department, by hospital tradition, enjoys a platter of cinnamon buns to help celebrate the award winner's success representing their department.
The nominations are judged by a peer group of staff and are graded on specific criteria developed by the Nursing Recruitment and Retention Director, Cathy DeChance. To maintain fairness, personal identifying data of the nominee is hidden.
"Brodowski is affectionately referred to by her peers as the Mama Bear because she is always looking out for others and helping them along" said DeChance.
Brodowski has been with Columbia Memorial more than 25 years and is a graduate of the hospital's former School of Nursing.
She enjoys spending time with her husband to whom she has been married for 38 years. Janice has two children and one grandchild.
