is a beautiful natural process. At Columbia Memorial's
Family Birth Place our staff support the laboring woman
and respect the individualized birth plan developed by
her and her family. Our main concern for the obstetrical
patient is meeting her needs, especially while in labor,
and making birth a safe, loving, joyful event. Our comfortable
patient rooms accommodate the birth process by bringing

needed
technology to the patient. After delivery,the equipment is removed and the room
reverts to a "bedroom" where the new parents can remain together with
their baby.
We believe
pain management in labor is an individual's choice. We offer a variety
of pain management techniques ranging from jacuzzi hydrotherapy,
birthing ball, massage, intravenous pain medication, as well as
intrathecals and epidurals.
Columbia
Memorial Hospital Women’s Health Centers
Our
care includes obstetrics and reproductive health. We initiate
treatment for infertility and work collaboratively with major
centers offering advanced infertility treatment modalities. Our
obstetrics practice accommodates the vast majority of obstetrical
problems. We have a longstanding working relationship with sub-specialists
at both Albany Medical Center and St. Peter's Hospital in Albany
for those extreme situations requiring the care of sub-specialists.
Our
Women's Health Centers also provide preventive medicine including
yearly physicals, contraceptive management, evaluation and treatment
of abnormal bleeding, menstrual irregularities, and pelvic pain.
We also specialize in the traditional and alternative treatments
for PMS, the perimenopause and menopause.
