Our mission
The mission of Columbia Memorial Hospital is to provide our communities with
high quality health care services in a dignified and compassionate environment.
A new hospital
Columbia Memorial serves more than 100,000 residents in Columbia, Greene
and Northern
Dutchess counties. The hospital focuses on advanced surgery, primary care and
health-based education. It is a 192-bed acute care facility. It also operates
a 120-bed long-term care site as well as numerous outlying primary care centers
and outpatient specialties centers.
The hospital has an advisory board of national experts to enhance our best practices
knowledge. We've also invested more than $20 million in new facilities and equipment
including surgical instrumentation, patient information systems and medical imaging
technologies. The Kellner Wing houses state-of-the-art emergency and surgical
departments. An advanced computer system in the Emergency Department reduces
patient waiting time and assists doctors and nurses in tracking patient care
throughout their stay. It is also being used as a "preparedness tool" to help
track health information and identify public health emergencies.
Innovative programs
Our Obstetrics Department is the award-winning Family Birth Place. It is
one of the most up-to-date birthing centers in the state and was recognized by
the American Society of Healthcare Engineers prestigious VISTA Award. Its entire
staff is certified in neonatal resuscitation for which they received the Special
Delivery Award from the American Heart Association and the American Academy of
Pediatrics.
Pain management
Our Pain Management Program utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach to treat
both acute and chronic pain. Columbia Memorial Hospital provides comprehensive
treatment of acute and chronic pain for both inpatients and outpatients.
Premier surgical center
With our transfusion-free surgery, our new Minimally Invasive Surgery Program
and our vascular
surgery program, Columbia Memorial is fast becoming the center for surgical excellence
in the Hudson Valley.
Transfusion-free surgery
Our transfusion-free surgical approach minimizes blood loss before, during
and after surgery. It is done in less than 130 hospitals nationwide and eliminates
the risks associated with donor blood.
Minimally invasive surgery
Columbia Memorial Hospital has surgeons who are Board-certified and Fellowship-trained
in minimally invasive surgery. This is major surgery with small incisions, less
pain, a brief hospital stay. Our Minimally Invasive Surgery program now offers
a variety of advanced minimally invasive procedures that promise less trauma
for patients.
